merc engine won't idle under load

engine won't idle when in water and in gear but it runs fine full throttle.anyone with a qlue?<br /><br /> thanks

Idle set too low?? What is the lowest rpm's that it will continue to run at? If when you backoff on throttle from there does the rpm go further down?<br /><br />Craig

the rpm setting i don't know.but,after i go to the lowest and still have it run,yes,it will go even lower.it pretty much only runs at full throttle.

Check the compression. Should be within 15% of each other. If that's ok. Try adjusting idle mixture. If that doesn't help you MIGHT need to remove and clean the carb idle circuits.
