merc crusier lower end boots?

I have a 90 alpha 1 its got a radiator, so in checking, the lower boot is ripped and cracked is this the boot where the water would flow if it did not have fresh water cooling or what is its purpose? thanks Rick

If your talking about the lowest boot in your drive, that would be the exhaust boot. And yes, water and exhaust gasses flow through it.

um... not sure what you mean by radiator... but if you're talkoing about the lower bellows, the exhaust bellows, it can leak without causing any damage. most people replace it with an exhaust "tube" because it is much easier to install. If you're talking about something in the engine compartment... I'm clueless.
