I have a 1987 welcraft 19' open bow with a 165
merc cruiser inboard with a Alpha 1 outboard.
Does anyone know the amount of gas the gas tanks holds?.
Also,
I just purchase the boat in Nov of 02. We make a test run then and haven't started it sence.
It's been stored inside.
Should I put fuel stablizer in the gas tank prior to starting?.
Thanks for any responce

Hi Bowtie
You may have better luck posting your question in the I/O section. As for the stabilizer, yes definitly put some in the tank per the instructions on the bottle and run the engine for 10-15 minutes to be sure it gets to the carb.

Bowtie,

The fuel stabalizer should go in the fuel tank and run into the carbs BEFORE putting it away.
Go ahead and run out the fuel you have in there -- it may run a little rough, but it hasn't been stored long. You should be OK.

Dave

Re: Merc cruiser gas question

Your fuel tank is 25 gallons
Your boats dry weight is 2350 pounds
Over all lenght is 19' 3"
Beam is 7' 7"
Your trailer if single axel should be about 600 pounds.
With fuel (6.17 ponds/gallon), your rig should weigh in at about 3100 pounds. + Gear.
If you need any more stats ask while I have the books out. I have the point gap, plug gap etc for the 2.5L, 3.0L, 3.7L, 3.7LX
