Merc 90 hp starter

When I go to start the engine all I get is a clicking sound. Battery is 12+ volts. Lights work, tilt trim operates. The engine is a 90 hp, four stroke (2016). Is there a way to check the starter?

I'd make sure the battery is fully charged. Lights and trim use a lot less power than a starter.

Fully charge the battery and try again. If that didn't work I would disconnect your battery, take a pair of booster cables and apply power and ground directly to the starter, thereby bypassing the starter relay. That will tell you if you have a starter issue or a starter relay/wiring issue.
