I am currently writing a training manual for our RHI and I need a little help. I need info on what the different audible alarms are for a 99 merc 90 besides the constant tone for an over heat. I've been told that there are squences similar to morse code identifying various problems. Nothing in the shop manual or the little owners manual/phamphlet. Even our local outboard mechanic is cluless. True, false, a list or a souse to get one, any help would be appriciated. Thanks rvanniel@d11.uscg.mil

I don't know if it's the same for your engine but I read a post regarding this. Refer to the engines and motors section, page 2, about midway down you'll find a thread titled "alarm (whistle sound)" John from Illinois posted that and he's a pretty knowledgeable individual. Thought it might help.

Rob, I am not sure on this but i think all you have is a continous tone on this engine, unlike earlier models...tone will sound for low oil in the tank or an overheat....
