My Merc 90 4 stroke tends to stall if I push the throttle down hard even after a ten minute warm-up!! Later after I run it for a while it seems to be OK.

Now my marine mechanic checked it out, and here's what he did:
- calibrated the carbs
- changed a fuel pump (my engine's only 1 yr old!)
- One of my choke sensors was cracked, but not faulty!!(CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!)So they changed that($320 part on warranty)

I got my boat back and the shop told me everything was ok.

So I launch the boat and warm up the 4 stroke for 10 mins. My RPM's drop to 800. So I try it again I open the throttle(swiftly), wide open, and you guessed it the engine stutters and dies. I tried this 3 times and got the same result. If I bring the throttle down a little slower it's OK. GO figure?

I called the shop and they told me that a carbureted 4 stroke will not respond as quickly as a 2 stroke fuel injected, especially with a heavier SS prop. I told them I already knew that and that it doesn't seem normal that my engine should stall on me even when it's still a little cold.

Anyone else wth a 4 stroke having this problem?

------------------
Princecraft 164(2000)
Merc 90-4 stroke
Prop:Vengeance SS 16P
