hi all!
can anyone help with this.. i changed the distibutor on a merc 850 and now it back fires when i try to start it.Clymer manual shop said to aligne the arrow on the distrib pully with the 3 ligned up dot of the flywheel and if it doesnt perfectly aligne ...aligne the arrow ligtly to the right ... i did BUT...i notice the rotor was not aiming at the plug NO1. is this normal ? is there any hints i could use to manual timmed it or cross-check what i actualy have.. like where should be to piston NO 1 (top) ? rotor aiming at ?
also the distrib cap can move a bit on the distrib how do i line this up ?
right now i suspect i m a tooth off
NB i did double check the wires position its writen on the cap 1 2 3 4
any help would be apreciated

Firing order is 1324 on your engine. With the marks lined up the rotor should be close to number 1 cyl.
