I have a 2004 Merc 80 Jet, 4 cylinder. 3 years ago top end had no power. Electrical unit changed and was good again. This year motor was working fine then lost power on the top end again. This was intermitent a first. Would start, work on two cylinder, kick in on four then die back to two. Then it would work fine, then only on two.
In the shop, checked electical and finally changed rev governer and it started to work for them. I took it out four times, no top end. Loading it on the trailer to bring home, it kicked in. I then backed in and tried it on the river. Worked for about 5 seconds and then died again.
In the shop now. They have tried everything on the motor with no luck, carbs,electical etc. Now looking at the lower end of the motor.
Any ideas
