Merc 650 water tube/ exhaust gasket questions?

1969 Merc 650 4 cylinder

I need some help, im not sure the orientation of the water tube/guide sleeve and rubber hose. Does the rubber hose go into the water pump housing or the guide sleeve. It seems I can't fit both but I'm probably doin something wrong.

Also does the exhaust plate and gasket go on the down tube of the exhaust or on the lower before installing the lower

The rubber hose is an actual mercury part

Put the exhaust plate and gasket into the lower unit then grease the gasket lightly to ease assembly, I don't know what you should to with the water hose!

Thanks that helps, I wasn't sure because I had already mounted my water pump body and it was blocking the gasket from sitting where it should but I got it now
