72-650, The bendix hangs in the flywheel and the starter coutinues to turn, I can barely move the flywheel in the other direction and it will plop down like it's supposed to, don't do it every time, sometimes it works perfect (especially when motors warm)but cold it hangs, greasing the teeth on the flywheel helps for a while but it gets slung-off and i'm back to square one. The teeth on flywheel are in good condition, not worn ,i've tried a little shimming to no avail (cause theres no room to do much). I took the bendix off took it apart and cleaned it up but honestly theres not much to wear as far as i can tell the rubber inside is in good shape or looks to be anyway. any suggestion will be appreciated. jim

Try lubing the spline that the drive assembly rides on. (armature shaft)

Also, lift the drive upward manually, and lube the shaft from below as well....use engine oil.
