can someone tell me the advatage one over the other please, planning on putting it on a 16.5 foot deep v allumi boat weight about 1000 lbs. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

There is no difference in HP. The difference is in the lower unit gear ratio. A small prop spinning fast has the same net effect as a big prop spinning slower. That said, the big foot is designed with a higher ratio (lower gear) so it can twist a large diameter prop. This unit is designed specifically for work boats, barges, and pontoons that require lots of push but are speed limited. You V-hull is a planing hull and if set up properly will be faster than the Big Foot. It has a smaller gear case (less drag) but runs a smaller diameter prop with less pitch.
