Merc 60 6hp needs new hub

I have a 1963 Merc 60 6hp that needs a new hub for the prop. My local prop shop doesnt seem to have the resources to find a new hub for it. Does anyone know of a prop shop that I could send it to to get it fixed.

Buy hub you mean the entire gear assy or just the nut the cotter pin goes thru??? might just have one,got a pic???

If you mean the hub has spun in the prop, it takes a prop shop to repair the prop. Most dealers don't have the equipment to do that. You need to look for a prop repair shop. If the prop is beat up you might be money ahead buying a new one.

Yes, the hub has spun and the prop needs to be re-hubbed. It is currently at a propeller shop and has been for about 3 weeks. They say they are still looking for a hub that fits.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a propeller shop that maybe worked on older motors that I could mail the prop to. Or I wouldnt be against buying a new prop, but does anyone know who sells a new prop to a 1963 Merc 60, 6 hp (Serial # 1528525).

I did find this site that has a diagram of the gear housing assembly that I need, http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_parts/386/23.cfm
They do prop repairs so I contacted them and am waiting to see if they can fix or replace my prop.

Try Twin City outboards -- they are a salvage firm for outboards. Put the name all together and add .com.

Matt, in recent year most prop shops have quit replacing hubs on small props because the prop tend to crack in the process and then the customers want a new prop as a replacement. So the shops quit doing them and the hub manufactures quit building the hubs.
