My fuel pump on the 6 hp 4 stroke will not pump fuel past the fuel pump. The dealership does not think its the fuel pump but recommend that I prime it. I have an internal tank but I do not see any primer bulb. I tried it with an external tank with a primer bulb & still will not pump gas past the fuel pump. The only way it fires up is pouring gas into the carburetor area. The dealer said the 4-6 hp are bad for this problem, the dealer said they are low volume pumps & there are no diaphragm kits for these motors. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks

If you squeeze the bulb it should push gas through the fuel pump and fill the carb, and it should stay running as long as you feel like squeezing it.

You can bypass the fuel pump and do the same thing, just place the fuel tank higher than the motor and it will gravity feed the carb.

Take that fuel pump entirely apart and clean everything up. Sounds like you have something stuck in there or one of the valves stuck closed. If the diaphram is broken then you need to replace it. There are kits to replace the valves and diaphragm but they arent' cheap. Once you're done reassembling it, then blow through it... you should be able to blow through it from input to output, but not from output to input.
