merc 500(50hp)/what year is it?

I bought this boat with the merc 500 and don't have a clue as to what year it is. I do think it is in the 60's. the ser.no.2628799. Won't turn on, has no spark. coil maybe? Would really appreciate your help and info.

what sort of ignition dose it have ie: distributor or 4 indivdual coils?
