merc 470 thermostat location?

I have an '82 merccruiser 470. The temp gauge doesn't move and I've blown 2 coolant hoses. First, the hose from intake to exhaust blew. Replaced it. Next day the hose from intake to waterpump blew. Could this be caused by a bad thermostat? Where do I find the thermostat?

check your pressure cap should be 14 lbs.
the thermostat is under the front of the exhaust manifold.

same problem here 1 week ago. Do I have to drain coolant to take out Thermostat since it is under manifold?
