Merc 40 HP (what is this?)

What is this part called? Connected to the shifter. Broke it off when I tried to reattach the lower unit. Shifter rod was not lined up properly we tried to force it on by tightening the bolts. Any ideas on where to get a replacement?

Cant see any pics, but I just broke the center lever that my shift rod connects to servicing my impeller. I had to replace the whole shift rod that is attached horizontally on the lower cowl. It is available new and used. I bought a used one off of ebay. Part# 821483A6 This fits 94-06 merc 40s. I also broke the bolts for the detent spring which was a royal PIA to fix and the shift rod re-attachement was also a royal PIA.

I just put a LU into a 1982 40hp...twice...the first time it didn't connect the shift linkage.
