Merc 4.3L MPI - electric pump running w/key off

Mercruiser 4.3L MPI - Chaparral 183S
When I turn off the key there is a pump that keeps on going and stays on until I disconnect the main battery cable.

Any idea as to what this is?

I doubt it's a pump on the engine, but if it is, you have some serious wiring problems.

Are you sure it's not a bilge pump with a stuck float switch or something?

Best thing to do is leave the batt cable on, and follow the noise till you find the pump. Then report back as to what pump it is.
