Hello.
Im asking the folowing question. I have merc. 3,0L inboard. When i start drive the motor runs good but after the boat get to speed i hear a clicking noise from drive (not motor) it feels like the drive is off 0,5 sec. Also it is hard to change from forward to back neutral. Need some help to find out what the noise can be.

Re: merc 3L drive noise

G'Day. The ticking noise could be Gimball brg, Universal joints or gear in lower unit. Suggest that you remove the drive and check the Gimball brg and universal joints. Drain the oil and check for water or metal. Remove the top cover of the drive and inspect the gears. Hard shifting is often caused by stiff lower shift cable or tight shift mechanism in transom housing.

Just went through this on alpha 1. Gimble. Another symptom is hard steering. Do not let that repair wait.
You will need a gimble puller. Replace all the bellows and shift cables at the same time if possible.
