I don't see this anywhere but I want to know -
"Do I need to remove the crankshaft key in order to re-install my timing cover with the new seals in it?"
I took it off that way but that was an old seal - now I'm ready to put the cover on and am looking at the key - which is pretty tight in there by the way...
Anyone have advice?

....leave the key in the crankshaft...there's plenty of room. Just don't allow the timing cover to rest on the crank's snout and deform the seal.
