Hey guys I just bought a gasket kit for my card and the new gaskets are not the same as the old ones. they are close. Should I be concerned? I also did not get a gasket for the block to carb connection.

FYI the picture on the left has the two new gaskets and the old one. As you see the bottom tow have everything line up hOLE WISE HOWEVER THERE IS A little difference in the gaskets. As for the 3rd on. I have no Idea what that one is for. Could that one possibly be for the connection between block and carb

Looks like a Mercarb. Single idle needle?
Use the bottom left one. Some different after market companies have slightly different cuts on the gaskets. The biggest difference is the size of the accelerator plunger. Also if your current accelerator pump plunger has a stiffer spring then the new one, change the spring. You want the stiffest one in there.

Is there a seperate gasket for the connection from the block to the carb. It was not in the kit.

Always buy the Merc. Quicksilver rebuild kit designed for your carb. The Sierra and other aftermarket kits have sub-par parts. It takes a while to properly clean, adjust and put back together. Why mess around with faulty kits that don't include everything? My Mercarb 2BBL kit was $75.00. Worth every penny. The carb is perfect now. Also, you have a choice to use either the needle valve with the spring or no spring. If you had flooding at idle, use the needle valve with the spring. Again, the Merc kit had good instructions and also the float measuring tool included.

Re: Merc 2bbl carb overhaul

I only paid 35 dollars for the Quick Silver kit on ebay. I chose not to use the spring float needle because of the Warnings Mercruiser posted about lean conditions in hard turns...
