i have a 2000 merc 225 optimax. ran great last week.. the ignition switch seems to be somewhat faulty. it takes numerous cycles of the key for the engine to actually turn over. then, when it does, it runs like crap.. can the bad running be linked to a bad ignition switch???

or, can a low battery cause intermittent starter engagment and bad running??

thanks for any input!!!
