Merc 225 - No Spark

I have a 1977 sleekcraft mercury 225 outboard but I try to start it today and I can't figure out how come its not firing I'm not getting any spark to spark plugs

Hi dblack,

What year is the engine? (Merc only made 175hp maximum in 1977, 225hp didn't start until 1980) If you don't have the year, can we have the engine serial number.

Have you checked the safety switch in the control box? Also known as a 'dead man switch'....
