Merc 1976-1993 tilt cylinder question (part 41493A7)

The threaded top of the tilt/trim cylinder stripped. Not on the top that unscrews, on the cylinder. Anyone know if theres a way to fix it or do I need to buy a new one? There are rebuild kits but they only contain rubber gaskets.
