Merc 188 cam specs? (latest info)

Are they available? Tail Gunner has me sweating bullets, so I thought as long as I had the intake manifold off for the 4bbl conversion of my BeachCraft 302, I might consider pushing the limits with a new cam.

I know, ya want to stay withing certain parameters but Delta Cam, in Seattle, claims to have some marine acceptable improvements. I would just like to have some numbers to compare their regrind numbers to.

Ok, I found part of the answer to my question.
Valve lift is .418 for the intake and .448 for the exhaust or a lobe lift of .260 and .278 respectively.

This was listed in the factory manual but no other specs, like lsa, duration, etc were give. These numbers incidentally were identical to those listed for my OMC 190 hp.

Sorry I can't Help Boomer,......

I Do know you need to keep the LSA between 109*,+ 112* so you don't get Reversion........

I'll call Delta Cam today. Hopefully they will have some OEM stats to use as a comparison.

Today I spoke with Delta Cams in Seattle. They are renowned for their cam regrinds. I told them what I had (they were well familiar with it) and they said to stick with it. They could do no better except to move the power band up the rpm scale.

They are a worthy outfit.

Looks like TailGunner has gotten a reprieve. No more magic bullets for Boomyal.

8) I once gave you advise on how to hop up that 302, actually the guy's i work with, i gave them a call, and there are none better than those nut balls when it come's to a 302.

All you would have to done is to check with Bondo or Don on the cam spec's butt noooooooo.....
