Hopefully this post doesn't show up twice, I'm still learning. Based on what I am reading it would be a smart decision to convert to a Delco alternator instead of replacing the water cooled voltage regulator. I do not have power steering on my boat (86 Glastron x19), does anybody know if I can use the stock pulley that is on the front of my motor? Or will I need to buy something different?

Have a look at the thread link below. It's the same kit as you need.

Thanks for finding that post for me Don! I do appreciate your expertise on this! Those both look like they either have you bolt a new pulley onto the existing or pull the existing and add the new one. I have a little concern of that extra 3 inches that they say I need in front of the motor. I found one on ebay that uses the existing, but I wasn't sure about the stress/load of driving the alternator.

You won't need the added space (3") if you don't have power steering and have the "old style" harmonic balancer. Take a look at high mount alternator hardware kit for picture and pricing from the link below. Note use of harmonic balancer pulley rather than extended pulley necessary for power steering.

DON'T OVER PAY...alternator and hardware kit should not exceed $200 (for no p steering units).

Best to start a new thead with your question. And not at the end of some 4 year old post where your question will not be seen.
