While cruising yesterday I started to get an intermittant alarm
indicating low oil, I checked the reservoir and its pretty full but Apparently not enough to float the sensor, if I manually raise the sensor the alarm goes off,
what would prevent oil from getting to the reservoir from the main oil tank?
any help would be much appreciated Thanks.

Re: merc 150 oil alarm

Open the cap on the oil tank slightly and run your engine and see if the tank fills up all the way, until you get a little leakage around the cap, then tighten just enough to stop the oil from leaking through the cap. Make sure the caps are tight for the boat tank and that it is pressurizing, pushing the oil into the boat tank as above. If not then look at the check valve on the lower starboard side of the block, it is a 2 psi valve and should pump into the boat tank.
