Guys and Ladies,
Hope you can help me out. I have a 1984 Merc 150 V6 that seems too idle ok but has no power. I have rebuilt and installed clear lines from the carbs to the fuel line to check for fuel (OK). I have checked the compression of all cyl (OK). And I have used a spark plug checker to test the plugs/wires. I noticed that some of the sparks were weaker than others but would still jump the gap. I also noticed that when I advanced the throttle to WOT some of the spark would not fire (don't know what that's about. I've changed the gas, played around with some switchboxs, coils, wires, with no affect. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad stator and/or bad trigger. Have them tested!

Re: Merc 150 Heartburn

Hi Mercboy,
That was my next guess, but tell me, I've been running this engine (testing) and only one out of six of the plugs ceramic insulators has turned brown, the others are white like new. Would a defective stator or trigger produce this effect?
