Merc 150 control box

My uncle is looking for a control box for his 1978 150 Merc 1500 ( blue band six cylinder ), it's supposed to be a special edition motor or control box, not sure. It has 2 seperate buttons for tilt/trim, one is red, the other black, and a button for the choke seperate from the ignition switch. The gears broke inside the box and I think he wants to replace the whole thing. Also, we cant find a serial# on the motor or control box, if it's needed tell me where to find it and I'll get it for you. Thanks, Devon

Howdy Devon,<br />Welcome to the forum.<br />There should be a small metal tag with model & serial nr. on the outside of the engine transom clamp,I think starboard side.<br />Hope this helps.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

That is where I thought i would find the serial # also, but it is not there. Thanks, Devon
