Merc 140HP 4cyl, impller pieces lost, overheating. HELP!!!!

Need to find the most likely places for the pieces of rubber impeller.

Sucked up a bread bag, roasted the impeller, upper & lower housings completely. Backflushed hoses and installed new impeller parts. Engine cools better now and is recieving supply water, but shows on guage and smells like it is overheating.

I would like to tear it all apart tomorrow but do not want to rip into everything.

I would check complete water pick up hose all the way up to thermostat housing. If all is clear and or your getting good water flow from pick up hose, pull thermostat housing and look for pieces in it.

I did pull the lower unit on the drive and flushed from the t-stat hose back to the drive. Excellent flow.

I will pull the tstat housing tonight and look for pieces.

BTW, if I pull the supply hose off the tstat hosuing, the drive is pumping water very well.

Ayuh,... Ok,... Follow the flow, til ya loose it....
Then back up 1 step, 'n yer at the plug-up....

Mine gernaded in driveway most peices found behind screens on lower unit opened thermostat housing flushed with hose ,found 1 piece under thermostat
