Merc 140 - How hard can you run em?

I was in the middle of a boat yard blow fest & no one could agree. At what Rpm range is to high to cruise? So, I figured I would poll the experts.<br /><br />Merc 140 is on a 18 Monterrey Br. It has 250 well maintained hours. WOT=4900, that falls within the factory spec.<br /><br />I say 3200...

Everything I've read about a 3.0 says WOT should be 4200-4600. 3200 cruise is fine, I'd say up to 3600 would be OK.

Most Every I/O is Very Comfortable in the 3200 to 3600rpm range for Cruising.......<br />Best Mileage Too....<br /><br />The Next 1000rpms is the Stress Range...........
