merc 140 cooling sys

I have a merc 140 eng, It had been used in Salt water so It used A closed water sys. I have now overhauled the eng. and will now use it exclusive in fresh water. what is the advantage/disadvantage of using a closed/open cooling sys.<br />thanks Bill

Hi Bill,<br />Keep the closed sys. It is easier to get ready for storage and the motor will last longer do to less corrosion with the permant<br />anti-freeze inthe block.<br />...have fun...corm
