I have an old lake boat that has a 1970 Merc 1350 hanging on it. Recently the water pump went south and the entire upper as well as lower section of the pump was cooked. I can find an 1150 pump without an issue but no listing for a 1350. Does anyone have any knowwledge about weather or not they are interchangeable and if not where I can find the correct pump? Thanks in advance for any info.

Did you look on parts express for numbers or pricing it may show in there?
If you do not know where that is go to the mercury outboard website, click on shop then parts express ,then parts and accesories and put in your serial # and it should let you now something.Hopefully this hels.

Your motor is too old to look up on the Mercury site by serial number, but there are many other sites out there that have exploded parts diagrams for that motor.

MERCURY 1350 s/n 2839369 through 3293233

27-32438 GASKET, WATER PUMP BASE TO GEAR HOUSING
25-30224 "O" RING, WATER PUMP BASE
46-48747 A1 WATER PUMP BASE ASSEMBLY
26-94038 OIL SEAL, WATER PUMP BASE
26-16977 OIL SEAL, WATER PUMP BASE
17-35973 DOWEL PIN, WATER PUMP BASE TO WATER PUMP BODY
27-856081 GASKET, LOWER - WATER PUMP BASE TO FACE PLATE
32-4351 PLATE, FACE - WATER PUMP BASE TO WATER PUMP BODY
27-858524 GASKET, UPPER - FACE PLATE TO WATER PUMP BODY
46-96148 T1 WATER PUMP BODY ASSEMBLY
48752 T INSERT, WATER PUMP BODY
26-38970 SEAL, RUBBER - WATER INLET TUBE
47-89984 T4 IMPELLER - WATER PUMP
2856654 KEY, IMPELLER DRIVE
1030720 SCREW, WATER PUMP BODY TO GEAR HOUSING (2 1/4")
1326992 LOCKWASHER, WATER PUMP BODY SCREW
1229245 WASHER, WATER PUMP BODY FASTENING SCREW AND STUD
11826709109 NUT, WATER PUMP FASTENING SCREW
1236001 WASHER, WATER PUMP BODY FASTENING STUD
11826709111 NUT, WATER PUMP BODY FASTENING STUD
2530271 RING, RUBBER - CENTRIFUGAL SLINGER (DRIVE SHAFT)
2329804 T SLEEVE, GUIDE - WATER INLET TUBE
2530613 "O" RING, UPPER - DRIVE SHAFT
37641001 SEAL, EXHAUST TUBE
38051 PLATE, SUPPORT - EXHAUST TUBE SEAL

Iboats megamall may have some of those items. Places like dougrussell, bam, etc, can fill in the gaps. You can estimate parts pricing on the merc site by individual component part number.

Re: Merc 1350 water pump

Thanks a lot guys, the pump has been ordered through the old mercs web site. This is a way cool site and I cant thank everyone too much for the help. I am a master tech with Mercedes Benz for more years than I care to admit with a lot of racing and fab experiance. If I can ever help with advice or info feel free to ask.

by the way, that 1350 may be old by years, but just sold a 71 1350 for $1800.

Re: Merc 1350 water pump

Bill, For future reference, a lot of the inline motors from the early seventies to the late eighties shared parts. I would think that the only difference in the waterpumps from your 1970 1350 to a 1988 115HP motor is whether the pump base has the built-in flush port(the early pumps had the port). Also, my 1977 1500 shares pump parts with my '88 Mercruiser Alpha I Gen I.

I have actually ordered the complete pump kit, upper and lower housings with all the plates, gaskets and an impeller. iis too cheap not to change it all while I'm in it
