On my merc110 the splines on the crank and driveshaft are worn away. I took the engine apart and the rest is in perfect shape. I can't find a crank and driveshaft used and the merc dealer says they are not available anymore. One guy said I could weld a socket to the end of the crank and file down the driveshaft to fit the socket.

 Anybody have any other ideas that could help me revive this engine?

If you have a buddy with a lathe, he could machine the old splines out and bore it to press fit a deep socket. Then, with a dividing head, he could accurately machine a hex on the shaft. Is it worth it? not if you have to pay a shop....
I just did one, but it was on a mint 90HP

Have you looked for used parts?

I'd imagine around $150-$200......I did my own, so I didn't price it out. Check around. If its too expensive, let me know And maybe I can do it for you..... :)

schematic are you serious? I just may take you up on that offer. I see you are in Alberta .. only one border to cross. I check around to get some prices and I'll let you know. If you are serious about doing the work yourself, since I'm only in BC I could send it to you by bus. Like I said I'll check around here first but what would you charge me.

I moved here from Saskatchewan back in 1987 and trout are fun to fish for but I sure do miss northern pike and pickerel. Those were the days.
In southern BC they don't exist here.
