So on the front page of this morning's Boston Globe is a picture of the president's daughter holding a 38" striper, surrounded by the president and the ex-president Bush.

Caption is "Presidential Pardon" since the fish was released.

What they failed to mentioned is that in Maine you can only keep stripers between 20-26" or over 40" (trying to keep the most productive cows in the water).

So if they had kept the fish it would have been illegal. But we're supposed to get the impression they're kindhearted...

No I am not trying to start a political discussion nor do I expect one in reply.

Shows

I think that this was just an honest Boston Globe error. The Massachussets rule is that you can keep 'm as long as they are over 28 inches.Besides this was not politicking. It was just humorous.

News papers were written fast and printed fast - meant to be read fast.

I agree with what rolmops said. Besides I think the Boston Globe would be one of the last papers that would conciously want to portray Bush in a positive lite.

Some nitwit called in to the "Sound Off" segment of our paper the next day after this picture appeared. They said the name of Bush's boat "Team Fountain Mercury" was perfect, since Bush's changes in pollution laws were causing mercury to fountain into our waters and was poisoning us all. What ya gonna do? Ignorance can be cured, but stupidity can't.

Not kidding, DJ. It was right there in print. In this section of the paper, you don't have to give your name, so I don't even know who to try to avoid.
