Medal detecting

does anyone here have the hobby of M/D ?
I would like to start medal detecting,
what is a good starter detector? I have not heard good things about the detectors that walmart sells.
we have no hobby shops in the area.
any advise is greatly appreciated

This forum is loaded with info . Read as much as you can before buying a detector. Don't even think about wal-mart unit if you want to do serious detecting.
