Re: MDS ignition

What are you replacing?? Old points system? A Thunderbolt IV system? What's your setup?

Re: MDS ignition

The point system was upgraded to elect. ignition before I bought the boat. I can't exactly identify the dist. or the coil - but looks like GM/Chev setup. I'm hoping the MSD will offer slight performance upgrade - and smoother starts. Was hoping to get a general opinion on the product/advantages. thx

Generally speakin',...
There's No performance increase found with an ignition up-grade...

On a stock engine you will be wasting money. I use one on my Century Arabians 500hp 440 because I have a mile long no wake zone from my dock to open water.

Re: MDS ignition

I installed the MSD and it did improve starting and I wa able to drop my idle back a little. You are supposed to be able to open the plug gap - so I did up to 45 - but she seemed to miss a little at idle - so I went back to 35.

thx!!!
