Hi everyone. I’m new to the forum.
I own ‘95 Searay Sundancer 250 with Bravo 2 outdrive. This season when finally managed to get my boat on the water realized that it started taking water, but only while sitting at the dock. Started to look closer and realized that water coming from transom assembly. So figured to take it out right away.
as examined closer (ending up taking motor out) found out that my transom housing corroded on the sides and caused bad leakage.
now looking for a transom housing((((.
Found one for a good price and in a good shape, but my problem is that I can’t compare two side by side since the boat is overseas. Hate to buy one and it wouldn’t fit/work.
Seller emailed me some pictures saying that it is bravo 1. But things that got me concerned even though the rest looks identical is instead of two bottom mounting pins there is two square holes. Pictures below.
from searching online it seams more of alpha gen 2 transom housing. My question will it work on my boat or there is a difference between bravo 2 and alpha gen 2 transom housing?
sorry for the long post!!!
any input greatly appreciated!

That transom in the first 2 photos seems to be an early Bravo design that will handle bravo's 1, 2 and 3 stern drives.

It's missing a bunch of costly parts and what's there looks to need replaced before installation should you decide on this one.

The square hole in the last cleaner looking photo? is the early design to fit the anode bolt kit which are aluminum bolt anodes for the bottom of all alpha one and early gen 2 transom assemblies... And for early bravos as well.

See item numbers 2A, 19 and 41 for comparisons, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/30966/952/40
The bolts look like these close up, https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-MerCru...-anode-bolt-kit-55989A8-55989a1-/140700885790

Just for clarification purposes, the 3rd cleaner photo is of the same part of the other 2 photos of the bravo transom emailed by the seller?

Thank you very much for your help. All those pictures were e-mailed to me by the seller. First 2 pictures of the unit from outdrive side and last one from the boat side. And when I compared them to my gimbal housing noticed the difference in those two holes.
what goes for missing parts I had most of them replaced on my boat about 2 years ago. And they barely saw any water since I didn’t have time to get it on the water last season.
Back then I did not pay close attention to the gimbal housing since it didn’t leak. My big mistake. but again I’m pretty new to the boats. It ran good, didn’t take any water. So just did a routine maintenance when first got it few years back.
But this year was different. When took everything apart realized how badly it corroded over the years. And previous owner tried to fix it by cementing around corroded area. Was a real pain to take it of the boat in the first place.
First picture of the clean gimbal housing is the full image that seller e-mailed me and last 2 are taken by me of my gimbal housing.
Hope that will clarify things a bit.
thank

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Where are You, 'n where is the Seller of that transom assembly,..??
Or is it Yer boat, is overseas,..??

How much is the seller askin' for it,..?? Any idea of the shippin' costs to you, from where ever it is,..??

There's several differences 'tween the various vintages of the Bravo transom assemblies,.....

The earliest not only have the square holes at the bottom for the anode bolts, but no remote oil bottle in the boat either,.....
No oil plumbin' there,....

There's also changes to the upper swivel pin, 'n it's bushin's 'tween nwer, 'n older Bravo transom assemblies,....
'n newer bellhousin's have a couple of 1/4" divets in the top aft edge of the bell,.....

I curious, as I recently bought a late model Bravo HP transom assembly, fully dressed, ready to bolt on, in showroom condition,....
donno how good a deal I got,.....

Well my boat is overseas so I’m. And there is nearly no parts for Sundancers in Europe. That’s why forced to look for parts in the states. Luckily for me I have a lot of friends who live in NY and it’s not a problem for them to pick it up and ship it over. Approximat shopping will run me about $100 and seller asking $75 for the whole unit as-is including inner transom plate. By the look of it it almost a match to mine except those square holes and one connector for a speed sensor is in different location. Mine is ontop right under steering arm and the one I’m looking at buying locate near shaft bearing.
And I have to make modifications is not a problem, just want to make sure it will mate with the motor and overdrive.
Unfortunantly still can’t get a part number from the seller.
