MC 485 coolant leak

Ok I just completed front impeller cam seal replacement on my MC 485. This engine had been idle for a few years and the area between the two seals was grungy with crud and rust. I ended up polishing the shaft with emery cloth though it still had some light rust staining on it. I also measured the DIA with a mic and found it was only a couple thou under on size with no noticeable groove. Now that its back together I'm seeing an ever so slight seepage out of the weep hole on the cover. I have not reinstalled the engine yet so i dont know what would happen under pressure. My question is this...is this normal and expected? The other thing is the fact that the seal "should" seal tighter under pressure since the seal lip is facing the coolant. Thoughts anyone?

Could be a defective seal. If you are pressurizing with air, spray some soapy water on the area and find out exactly where the leak is.

I've not tried pressure testing it. How would I go about that? I'm assuming I would have to take the impeller and cover off and apply pressure through the weep hole? Thanks for responding.

It's a closed cooling system, drain it and pressurize it with a pressure tester used on a cars radiator.
