...can anyone tell me which point on the plate is 6' BTDC, or do you have a photo of the plate. Mine is too corroded to read the marks and I cannot remember how it was on my 78 Chevy PU that had a 250 L6 in it.

Need to check my timing properly.

Thanks,
Bill

BTW, I ran the boat for the first time today and it ran fine but was short on rpm's (3,500 @ WOT). Probably from the load of 4 adults and a recent change in prop pitch from the previous owner. He noticed the change about the time of the prop swap. I think I will need to swap a shorter pitch in to get me up to proper rpm's.

Thanks ziggy!

Thanks ziggy!

That helps a lot even as corroded as your plate is.;)
Mine only shows the notches and points. I'll try to locate a new one to be sure in the future but it looks like 6' BTDC is the second full notch from the top of the plate.

Thanks again!:)

i agree, the white hash mark is where i thought 6 btdc is. assuming, 8 after is the last hash mark, ea. hash mark being worth 2*.......
the sencond notch from the btdc side would be 6 btdc, if you look close ya can see an 8. on the btdc side.......

Look at the tab more carefully. Each point of the tab is 4 degrees apart (before and after 0 degrees). 6 degrees is the notch between the second and third point from the left. The markings are even readable.
