mc-1 crack in bellhousing

gentelman i am rebuilding a 1970 mc-1 outdrive for my crestliner muski 17 that i am restoring(stringers transom and floor done so far) while cleaning bell housing i noticed a crack next to shift cable area on the aft side of bell housing. my question is can i use jb weld to fix or do i hav to get it welded?SAM_0117.jpgSAM_0118.jpgSAM_0119.jpg

Ayuh,... It had water in it, 'n froze, splittin' it...

I'd find another 1, 'n replace it....

thats not what i wanted to hear this rebuild is killing my budgett already... but i will start pricing them out. thanks bond-o

While I agree it needs to be replaced, it seems like an odd place for a freeze-crack. Unless the entire bellows was filled with water.

yeah must have been cracked for along time when i test ran everything prior to teardown all seamed fine just had some built up grease right there, when i started cleaning yesterday that is when i noticed crack i was hoping jb weld would work but did find bell housing on ebay for 150.00..now just need to re-organize budget
