So it looks as though I will be getting back to full time work in another week, talked to my boss the other day and some big projects are coming down the pipes.. which was good timing, as something came along that I thought was a pretty good deal and i didn't want to pass it up ... for a whooping $750, I'm now the owner of a 1999 arctic cat zr600.. 6k miles, FI, 120 psi on both jugs, starts first pull and runs great! (Almost dumped myself off the back actually, this thing has some SNAP to it!) Now obviously its not perfect for that kinda $.. When I picked it up it wouldn't go more than 10 feet and it would just shut down. Start right up again tho.. So i disconnected the kill switch today and voila! she runs like a champ, no shut down! Spent this afternoon making 'franken-sled' repairs to the hood and windshield with a drill and zip ties, looks as though the PO rolled it.. possibly several times.. Missing some bolts/screws, and a few little things here and there.. but overall it's not bad for what you get for this price point.. and I've got all summer/fall to get it trail ready for next season..
Its kinda funny, cause last month my friend picked up a 2001 zr600, running on one cyl, for $1100, and has already spent over $300 (pistons rings and bearings, one used jug) on the motor. Pulled the rear suspension/skid out the other day, its all bad/worn/hacked.. He's slightly jealous..
