Salado, TX is an "upscale" enclave and arts colony between Waco and Austin. A really great little town to visit. Daughter #2 lives there.

Among other annual events is the great "Death By Chocolate" contest that attracts chefs from all over the Southwest.

This year my Grandbuddy, Scott Hutcherson, won first place of 26 entrants with his "Triple Chocolate Mousse Minis" developed specifically for his Mom and Granpa, world reknown chocoholics.

Scott, 29, is Executive Chef at a DFW metroplex hospital.

I am soooo proud. :D

I don't know if you may brag a bit. I mean, after all, it might not be as good as you say. Tell him to send about ten pounds of the stuff to my house and I'll let you know if its brag-worthy! ;)

Re: May I brag a bit??

Have you ever been in a hospital that had GOOD food for patients, guests and employees??

"a DFW Metroplex Hospital" is not the same as "the DFW Metroplex Hospital"

JB....i gotta agree with jay...
while an award is a dubious distinction...the proof is in the pudding !
as a chocolate mousse fanatic (with raspberry sauce) i think we need a taste to confirm the total victory !

congrats !

Since he is an executive chef at a D-FW hospital, I hope to NOT sample his cooking any time soon. Sorry, JB ! :p

He won't even tell his granpa the recipe and claims he could sell it for $50 a pound.

I have eaten them and I agree with the $50 a pound part. They are about the size of a cupcake and worth killing for.

Re: May I brag a bit??

Since you can't post the recipe , I think the only solution now that you have members wondering about the taste is to have him make 200,000 of them and send one to each active member .
I know it is a dumb unrealistic idea but maybe in a moment of weakness thinking about making 200,000 of them he will give up the recipe ;)

Not sure the recipe would do any of us any good without his skills to prepare it. Sounds amazing... Congrats to you both and definitely worth bragging...

Re: May I brag a bit??

I would like to organize a boating get-together for the North-East reagon. All potential participants could meet in the Salado Texas area to discuss plans. Meeting in Salado could show us North-Easterners the true meaning of hospitality, Southern style and may be Scott could exemplify that with generous servings of his D. B. C. speciality. lol.
