I have been boating for years and the only boats I have owned have been Four Winns. We decided on a change of rides and starting looking into other markets when we found this one. My wife and I have just purchased a 1997 Maxum 2800 SCR with a single 7.4 Merc. It is in great shape minus a few dings, and small things that can be fixed with ease. Does anyone out there have this same boat? Does anyone have good things to say about it or problems worth noting?
Another question if I may. When I looked up the parts catalog on maxumboatparts.com it showed all of boat models for that year. When I looked up the 2800 it was not there just a 1755 MM. When I opened that one it was the boat that I bought but it said 1855 MM. Does anyone know what this means? Is there a number for the Maxum Corp. because there site is really bad and gives no help at all in finding replacement parts online.

Any comments on this boat would be welcome.

Charles Spangler

Welcome to iboats.
We do not allow direct linking to other commercial sites so I have trimmed your's up a little.

Re: Maxum 2800 SCR

I just had the same problem with Maxum's site, my 1900SC did not show up, but it was under the 1952NS. Once I opened it up it was clear that it had the parts list for several boats under one heading. I would suggest looking up the closest you can (looks like the 2755mm or mt for your year) and look at the diagrams to see which match your actual boat.

Hope that helps.

Re: Maxum 2800 SCR

I own the 2700 SCR...had it for a couple of yrs..although it's a ft smaller...it's roughly the same model...I have the 6.2ltr engine and B3 drive.....so far it's been a great boat...handles any sea state and plenty of room......we've spent a week on the boat at a time ...pretty awesome from my experience...
although the website sucks at maxum...you can do a web search and get the factory and speak to a person.....
