Need some advise....I just looked at a 2001 Maxum 2100SC cuddy w/260hp with 70 hours. The boat looked to be in exellent condition. They were asking $24,900. I have been looking around on this message board but haven't seen many converstations about Maxums. What are your opinions/concerns on Maxum boats?

Thanks

As far as I know, they are a first class boat. But that's just what I hear and have seen. I've never owned one.

Re: Maxum 2100SC

I have a 2000 Maxum 2300SC that I bought used just over a year ago. The only area that gives me concern is just at the point where you walk through the windshield, there are hairline cracks in the gelcoat in a large flat area of nonskid that seems to take a lot of stress if you step hard. As far as performance and handling go, I really like the ride, the 22Deg deadrise cuts through the chop very well. I'm not sure how the cuddy size of the 2300 compares to the 2100 but we find it ok for the occasional night. We spent 8 nights on it last year and will probably spend 10 or so this year.

Re: Maxum 2100SC

Although Maxum has nation wide distribution, their sales have always been modest. So not a lot of owners posting. Direct competitors are boats like Caravelle, Glastron GX, Larson Sei, Monterey, Rinker, and Seaswirl. A market level that is largely dominated by Glastron and Larson.

But a strong local dealer would make a difference. Here is a thread on another site discussing Maxum -

Go Boating America's Forums » ... » Maxum boat Info

Kelly Cook

They are an upscale Bayliner, but same basic construction methods.

I bought a '97 1900 SR 4.3L new. She's been absolutely care-free with regular maintenance. I'm sold on Maxums.
