Need to know biggest OB I can put on it, it has a junk 35hp Chrysler now and Im looking at a Johnson 50hp. Will that work and can I go bigger? Also, what's the smallest that would go a decent speed? Thanks!

Google the USCG safe powering formula and that formula will work ONLY if the boat is FULLY Structurally sound.

The formula is based on length, beam, hull shape and steering.

We have a link to the Starcraft brochures and you might be able to look up your model http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=349830

Generally that boat would have a max of 60HP or thereabouts. In '66 a 60HP OMC motor was a V4. Today, you can get 60HP in a twin or 3 cylinder inline motor. Both would be acceptable, provided the boat had "normal" beam and freeboard.

I would think a 50HP Twin would give about 30MPH, give or take, and depending on the style of the hull.
