Max hp for a 1983 Gregor Seahawk 18 CC?

Anyone know what the max hp motor would be (should be) for a 1983 Gregor Seahawk 18 CC tinny?
(Having a hell of a time finding that info online; current model on website just says "100hp")

If it helps, I'm thinking of looking at one, but it's got a 140hp OB on it and that sounds overpowered--as in potentially legally/insurably overpowered--to me...but what do I know about tinny's? Nada.

Found a site that calculates max hp for tinny's based on length, transom width, transom height, etc. and it says up to 200hp? That sounds insane.

(Maybe this post should be in the mfgr's forum, but not much traffic there...)

Thanks

My 19 foot Tin has a 90 Merc 2 stroke, it's acceptable, and functional. Wish it had the 150 on her, and it was an option for my Spectrum. Good luck finding out, I would walk away if it exceeds the max rating for obvious reasons.

I did send an email to Gregor asking these Q's and for actual specs from that model vintage, but hoping to get some confirmation here as well. And also I suppose people's opinions whether a 140 on that size tinny...regardless of legality/insurability...is a safe combo, especially for someone new to an aluminum hull.

(Guess I'd also like people's opinions regarding that hull...)

Do you have any pictures you can share? seeing the boat is big, and as an example, my Spectrum 19 footer is huge, I will check the HP rating but I would bet it would take up to 200 HP, yet it came with a 90 Merc and does just fine. Other 19's maybe not. Snap a few pictures, we love to see what you have.

Here's the ad on a local-ish fishing site, quite a few pics in it:

83 18ft gregor with 86 140 suzuki

I am beginning to suspect that whatever actual model that hull is, it may not have originally been a CC. Especially since I can't get ANY web searching info on Gregor having made an aluminum CC prior to maybe the early-mid 90's.
(And nobody seems to be at work at Gregor today, or at least not answering phone or email)

that looks like a lot of motor for that hull to me.... I don't know that it would be inherently unsafe but I'd say it would be more than enough power to get a less experienced captain in trouble....

I think 100 hp is probably the correct figure... I would think it would be EASY to trade the motor for a smaller one tho

EDIT: heck their current 21'er is only rated for 120 hp

Yeah, starting to rapidly lose interest due to some red flags I see:
1. I highly doubt the hull was originally a CC, looks like a project hull / CC add-on build. Makes me wonder about proper hull weight/stability with the CC on there. Is that a 600lb hull or a 1100lb hull, I'm sure it makes a difference.
2. Boat looks way overpowered, probably a hull/motor/trailer "throw-together" rig.
3. Looking at other posts by that guy (cars, trucks, OB's, fishing gear), he looks to be a "swap meet / flipper" type, probably explains 1. and 2. Indeed he was trying to sell the console and the motor separately a short time ago. Bet he hasn't owned any of the stuff in that ad more than a few months, and I like sellers who know some history on their vehicles.
