Sure it could. How are your stringers and transom?

Everything is still solid. I redid the mounts n part of the rear floor. Was curious as to whether the actual stock hull design had a hp/speed limit. I figure I could expect 65 mph with a 383 :)

It's hard to predict what the boat will do at that speed. I've also thought about the stroker for my boat if my 350 were to need replacing. I ran across this post the other day. Have a look.

It seems that some of the guys think 65-70 mph could get a little dangerous. but who knows.

Your boat has a fairly shallow v hull and I would expect that is would really fly with that much power. For a lot less money you could put in a nice 350 with roughly 300 hp and still go 55-60mph. My boat has a much deeper v and will touch 50mph with my stock 350.

Not only that, but you would probably need to have a custom prop made since you cant buy more than a 23p prop off the shelf for these old outdrives.

According to my prop calc, you'd need to spin the motor up to 5000rpm with a 25p prop to hit 65mph, with a 10 % slip.
