I looked at the previous posts and didn't find a similar problem so here goes. My brother's Mastercraft PWC sits out in the lake on a submerged trailer all summer. The battery went dead so we took of seat to try to jump start it. Eventually we just took out battery and charged it overnight and it worked. Question is how much water should be in the engine compartment. His was what I considered excessive. He said it was supposed to be like that but I don't believe so. Like the battery and assorted electrical leads were under water. Maybe I'm wrong . I don't know much about these PWC. Anybody got any advice.

Yes, keep it out of the water , now a question where does he find parts for it I have only seen one of those and don"t even know who made it but I am sure they are no longer available, he would do better to fassion some wooden ramps and pull it up out of the water when he isn't using it

the mastercraft I saw looked like a kawasaki and I had to do a double take when I saw the name because I never heard of it before . so if he takes care of it some day people may collect them

Re: Mastercraft PWC

Thanks for reply Jeff. Next week when I go to his camp, I'll get it out of water. I'll have to go to Mastercraft website and maybe get some info. It seemed to run OK even with all the water in the compartment. He said the water in there was for the intake tube? I haven't got a clue. It just didn't seem normal to me to have all that water in there with all the electrical leads etc.

Re: Mastercraft PWC

he may find that when he removes the water it will run a lot better and faster, Intake tube HUH? Thats a new one on me. sounds like a story a sales man uses to sell a jet ski that leaks,Oh dont worry about the water in the hull it only leaks when its sitting in the water. I have no idea what the heck he is even talking about. its not a good thing to have water in the ski period.

Water intake for cooling is obtained from the pump, and it is a sealed system. There should not be water in the hull. If you can't find the leak, install a automatic bilge pump that will pump water out as it collects. (20 or 30 bucks)
Here is one:

Jeff and BiXLL, just to update. My brother pulled ski out for winter and found that the scoop gasket is bad. He said he had taken it off last year. So hopefully, with a new or fabricated gasket it won't leak anymore.

OK , I'll get some. Who makes it or is 5200 a generic classification?

Well Jeff, just went through my supplies and guess what I found. 3M 5200 marine sealant. Looks like I'm ready to rock and roll.

Jeff, just to update. My brother found a leaking gasket(bolts weren't tight). Fixed it and now runs like a bear and no leaks.

Re: Mastercraft PWC

There was a question earlier about finding Mastercraft Parts. I am looking for a fuel filter for a 1996 Kraze. Any help on location or diagrams would be much much appreciated!

Amy

I have no clue where to find parts for it... Ebay usually works for hard to find parts.
