Does anyone have any info or own a Martin boat.

Fiberglass fishing boats built in Orlando, FL.

I have viewed their web page but just looking for any info from someone that has/had one or fished with someone that has one.

Thanks,

Jim

So Martin's shop is west of the airport, down off off South Orange Ave. My guess is he either came out of Regal, Correct Craft, or one of the Titusville flats boat builders like Hells Bay.

Or maybe his Mom and Dad have a lot of bucks. Gotta have molds built, you know. But their 24 Bay looks an awful lot like a Dorado or a Gause Built.

Calba lists a plant in Cocoa...

Hey Bob, good to see you on this forum as well! Is that your boat or are you looking for a tournament cat? Is Mike Carrigan on here as well? I agree that 24 bay really has that Gause,Aqua, Dorado look. Is it a flatback?

Lewis,
Good to see you sir! Don't know if Mike is on here or not, he's kind of a newbie at this stuff. No, the Tournament Cat is not my boat, just built all 24 of them back in '99. She is a great performer (near 60 w/twin 150s) but she was over-priced. If someone has one, she is truly a rare boat.

Not to hijack this thread, but back to Martin. The 24 Bay is definitely a flat transom model, probably set up for a jackplate as a "must have". Just kind of curious about Mr. Martin's lineage, for when I first looked at it, I said, Damn, looks like a Dorado".

Me living in Orlando for 14 years, I figure he came out of the Regal/Correct Craft experience. I could be wrong, maybe he'll pipe up here? Might drop him a line and let him know someone is talking about him...if his ears aren't already burning!;)

Re: Martin`s Manufacturing & Fabrication - Orlando

Hi All, I was informed that I needed to join this forum, and let people know about my boats, or at least myself.
To answer a few questions, I do not have rich parents (it would be nice though), I did not come out of any local builders. I grew up in Illinois and tournament fished and guided in central Il. and worked on converting John boats to Bass boats for the average guy. We could not afford the others. I moved to Morehead City NC. and worked as a mate on some offshore boats and then worked on some snapper/grouper boats and ended up owning a 38' commercial boat for a few years.all the time, i worked on rebuilding boats. I moved to Orlando in 2001 and opened a shop in 2007 and bought out AMS boats in Hudson Fl. and retooled the molds and am now currently building the 24, I also bought out Calba Boats in May of this year.

The Martin 24 is from the same mold that was originally the Trevco. He sold it to AMS. It has a 9' 6" beam, Runs 42 MPH with a 150 4 stroke and Handles great. I have demo boats available.

Thanks all., Mike

Welcome to the jungle, Mike!
Best of luck in the boat building business; times are rough right now but hopefully they pick up next year.
There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on here. The restoration forum will show you the dedication of the folks that will spend 5 grand gutting and rebuilding a 500 dollar boat that will resale for 1500. :D
