....from office space.... Resort prison, instead of "bang you in the *** Prison"<br /><br />I love to see her get it, cause I just don't like her.... but seems like a waste, put a drunk driver in there instead.

Re: Martha Stewart

I doubt she will spend a day inside. Right now she is out awaiting appeal. That won't roll around for 1.5 to 2 years. By that time no one will care anymore that she, with her millions, bailed on an illegal stock tip and left thousands of little people holding the bag as the stock tanked. Another fine example of an American Liberal. You guys are sure in good company, with Martha, Whoopi, et al....what she did was wrong and she should face punishment, just as any of US would for committing the same crime.

You got that right, LubeDude. Clinton made it the MO of the day and then leaves his minions in the lurch.

Re: Martha Stewart

SW got the problem just exactly right. She was never officially accused of, or charged with, insider trading. Yet every one, including the jury, no doubt, assumes she is guilty of it. But she was not allowed to defend herself from the insider trading charge in court, because it was not a charge.<br /><br />This was a complete BS case from the start, and had it been anyone other than Martha, they never would have faced trial, let alone jail time.<br /><br />She made potentially $30k on this deal, and arguably did not affect anyone else.<br /><br />Kenny boy Lay and his cronies at Enron caused thousands of people to lose their jobs, more thousands of people to lose their entire retirement savings, not to mention causing billions of losses to the entire west coast, and I bet he never sees the inside of a jail.<br /><br />It doesn't pay to be a powerful woman in this country. Men behave this way and they are called "shrewd". Women do it, and they are called a b****

I agree plywoody.<br /><br />I personally don't think she got off easy.<br /><br />The controversy cost her fully half of her stock value; she lost $500 million. Easy?<br /><br />She is serving 5 months in jail, followed by 5 months of house arrest, for lying to investigators. Bill Clinton escaped prosecution for lying under oath. Easy?<br /><br />The fact is that if she were an unknown person, she would not have been prosecuted at all in exchange for testifying against her broker, who is the real lawbreaker in this case. Easy?<br /><br />I'm sure those who don't like Stewart wish she had been given the death sentence, but objectively she did not get off easy.

I don't like Martha either, but at least she was a standup woman. All she had to do was rat out the guy who tried to do her a favor and it would have been over for her. She wouldn't do it and is now paying the price. Not many in her position would have hung tough. She was railroaded.

Martha Stewart was a former stockbroker, and was serving on the New York Stock Exchange Board at the time of her crime. Not exactly someone who was ignorant of the rules. As a Director of the Exchange she should have the highest ethical standards, and now she should pay.<br /><br />Jinx
